There is actually two models of this year’s iPhone much like last year’s models. The new iPhone 6 has a 4.7 inch 1334 x 750 IPS screen which translates to about 326 ppi. That is bigger and also higher resolution than previous iPhones which had 4 inch displays with less than HD resolutions. If you want an even bigger screen, the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5 inch 1920 x 1080 display which is 401 ppi.
While watching the keynote the most memorable thing about the new iPhone’s hardware was the camera. The rear camera is 8 MP with phase detection autofocus and a dual LED (dual tone) flash. The iPhone 6 Plus uses optical image stabilization instead of phase detection which means the camera can move side to side and communicate with the gyroscope to stabilize the image depending on your movements. Both new iPhones have geo-tagging, touch focus, simultaneous HD video and image recording, blink/face/smile detection, panorama and HDR. Both iPhones can also record 1080p video at 60 fps, 720p at up to 240 fps. The front camera is 1.2 MP with burst and HDR and can record 720p video.
Other Features and Upgrades
The new iPhones have the new A8 processor with M8 motion co-processor and PowerVR GX6650 hexa core graphics. This will be much faster than previous generation iPhones, according to Apple. The new iPhones also have 1 GB of ram and are available in 16 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB storage capacities. The new iPhones also have an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass and a barometer.
